Specialist Mathematics is the most demanding maths subject in VCE. We teach Units 1 to 4 in Officer and online, in groups of no more than three, so there is time to work through hard problems properly.

Students who choose Specialist are usually strong at maths. What they often need is more time with someone who can take them through proof, complex numbers and vectors step by step. That is what our lessons are for.

What Specialist lessons cover

Specialist Maths for Officer, Pakenham, Berwick and Clyde North

We are at 29 Officedale Rd, Officer, about 10 minutes from Pakenham and Berwick, and around 15 to 20 minutes from Clyde North. Officer station is on the Pakenham line, and students who would rather not travel can have the same lessons online.

Whether your child goes to Berwick Secondary College, Nossal High School, Beaconhills College or Hillcrest Christian College, we follow the VCE Specialist Mathematics study design, so lessons line up with class work and SACs.

How our Specialist lessons work

Groups of three, at most

Every student gets real attention. One-on-one lessons are available too.

Time for hard problems

Small groups mean we can stay with one difficult question until it is properly understood.

Parents can see progress

Our online portal shows homework, answers and progress by topic, so you always know where things stand.

Methods and Specialist together

We teach both, so the two subjects support each other instead of competing for time.

Questions parents ask

Does my child need to take Methods as well?

Specialist Units 3 and 4 assume students are also studying Methods Units 3 and 4, or have already completed them. We teach both; see our Methods page.

Is Specialist too hard for my child?

Specialist suits students who enjoy maths and are doing well in Methods. If you are unsure, a free trial lesson is a good way to see how your child handles the material.

Do you help with SACs?

Yes. We prepare students with practice in the same style and work through the topics each SAC covers. We do not complete assessed work for students.

How big are the classes?

Small groups have no more than three students. If your child needs more focused help, one-on-one lessons are available.

How do we get started?

Book a free trial lesson. We will see where your child is at and suggest a plan from there.
