Mathematical Methods is the VCE maths subject most students take, and the one many find harder than expected. We teach Units 1 to 4 in Officer and online, in groups of no more than three.
Most students who struggle with Methods have one weak foundation, such as index laws, algebraic fractions or function notation. We find that gap first, then build calculus and probability on solid ground.
What Methods lessons cover
The step up from Year 10
Functions and graphs, algebra, an introduction to calculus, and probability, with the gaps from earlier years filled as we go.
See VCE Methods → Units 3 & 4Calculus and probability
Functions, differentiation and integration, and probability and statistics, with SAC preparation along the way.
See Years 11 & 12 → ExamsPractice under exam conditions
Timed past papers for the technology-free and technology-active exams, CAS fluency, and a bound reference that is quick to use.

We are at 29 Officedale Rd, Officer, about 10 minutes from Pakenham and Berwick, and around 15 to 20 minutes from Clyde North. Officer station is on the Pakenham line, and students who would rather not travel can have the same lessons online.
Whether your child goes to Officer Secondary College, Pakenham Secondary College, Nossal High School or Clyde Secondary College, we follow the VCE Mathematical Methods study design, so lessons line up with class work and SACs.

How our Methods lessons work
Groups of three, at most
Every student gets real attention. One-on-one lessons are available too.
The why, not just the how
We explain why each rule works, so calculus makes sense instead of being memorised.
Parents can see progress
Our online portal shows homework, answers and progress by topic, so you always know where things stand.
Start early
Holiday lessons, including over summer, help students get ahead before Units 3 and 4 begin.
Questions parents ask
When should my child start Methods tutoring?
Ideally before a small gap becomes a big one. Many students start in Year 10 or at the start of Unit 1; others join before Units 3 and 4, often over the summer holidays.
Do you help with SACs?
Yes. We prepare students with practice in the same style and work through the topics each SAC covers. We do not complete assessed work for students.
Do you teach Specialist Maths as well?
Yes. Many students take Specialist alongside Methods, and we teach both. See our Specialist Maths page.
How big are the classes?
Small groups have no more than three students. If your child needs more focused help, one-on-one lessons are available.
How do we get started?
Book a free trial lesson. We will see where your child is at and suggest a plan from there.
