Why “PhD Tutor”

Taught by someone who uses maths for research — not just for exams.

Komal is a Ph.D. researcher in mathematical modelling and a sessional university lecturer, teaching algebra, statistics and calculus to engineering students. Her research has been published in an internationally recognised journal.

That depth shows in the small things: explaining why a method works, not just the steps to memorise.

How long are the classes?

Each class is one hour. About half our students come once a week and the rest twice.

How much homework will my child get?

Just enough to practise what was learned, usually 30–45 minutes. It’s set on our portal, so you can see whether it’s been done.

Do you offer online tutoring?

Yes. Classes run in person in Officer and online.

What if my child is really far behind?

That’s exactly what we’re here for. We start from where they are and build up — no rushing, no shame.

Will I know if my child isn’t doing homework?

Yes. You can log in to the portal any time, and we keep in touch with parents about homework and progress.

Do you teach during the school holidays?

Yes. Classes continue through the school holidays as well as during term.

What ages do you teach?

Prep through to VCE, plus university-level mathematics for undergraduates and mature-age students.

Do you tutor IB students as well as VCE?

Yes. Most of our students are on the VCE pathway, but the mathematics behind IB Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation is the same material, and we teach it at university level.
